Today’s post is from StyleBlueprint Birmingham Editor, Catherine Romero:
Backyard fire pits and outdoor fireplaces have come a long way in recent years. What was once reserved for high end hotels and fine dining establishments is now at the top of the must have list for homeowners. Whether entertaining guests or just having some family time, the cozy ambience and flickering light of an outdoor fire is always a crowd pleaser. Sometimes referred to as the poor man’s pool by architects and designers, the outdoor fire pit has become a popular way to enhance and extend the living space of a home. Fire pits come in all shapes and sizes and are an affordable option to boost backyard living. Fire tables are another hot choice. Or opt to get crackling with the full-on fireplace. For inspiration, here are a few of our favorites.
SB Nashville ran a post on fire pits last winter, too. Photo below to whet your appetite – click on the image to read the story about Fire Pit Art‘s award-winning fire pits. (Fire Pit Art is a Tennessee-based company which was recently a runner up in Garden and Gun‘s 2012 Made in the South Awards in the home category – very cool!)
