In a charming little blue house on S. Perkins Road lies a wonderfully happy place called Social, a shop for gracious living.
To know Social is to know Carmen Bond, the shop’s beautiful and talented owner. Her insanely good taste and penchant for styling the shop makes the experience even prettier! Already an accomplished interior designer, having her own boutique has always been a dream of hers, one that came to fruition just this past November. “I love beautiful things,” she says. “Having this shop lets me share them with others!”
There were a few Social boxes under the tree for me this year that had me wanting to see more, but this visit was made specifically to uncover some unique wedding gift finds, as we celebrate all things wedding-related on Wednesdays at StyleBlueprint this month. I just so happened to find a few things I could not live without, including a wedding gift, too. Check that off my list!
I think a wedding registry says a lot about a bride, and I always love to see what china pattern, stemware and silver they carefully select. Sadly, those items often get stashed away and don’t see tons of use in our daily lives. For that reason, there is a whole wide world of unique and amusing items to consider that are not only more functional, but make everyday wedded life a little more blissful.
When I visited with Carmen and her right hand woman Camille Mueller, pretending for an afternoon that I could register again, I had so much fun checking out their selection of exceptional wedding gift items. In fact, the ladies were off to market in New York the very next day with their running shoes packed ready to shop, shop, shop!
In addition to some of the favorite standards in dishes and serve ware, Social offers an array of choices Memphis has never seen before. And as their wedding inventory expands, they are ramping up their registry resources to make for a hassle-free process. Their signature, beautiful gift wrapping is the icing on the (wedding) cake.
But Social is not just about dishes! They are brimming with jewelry, scarves, diffusers, candles, coffee table books, pillows, throws and a wonderful cache of versatile and vibrant Turkish T towels in all sizes and colors. I got one for a beach blanket which can also be worn as a sarong, a scarf or used as a table cloth. What?!
So if you are like me, always in need of a unique wedding gift, absolutely escape to Social. Be prepared to buy something special for yourself, too, and live a bit more graciously! You’ll say ‘I do’ to all of the beauty that the shop holds and truly enjoy the experience.
Social is located at 660 S. Perkins Road and open Monday-Saturday 10am to 5pm. Check them out on Facebook and Instagram where they are always posting new pretties! www.facebook.com/SocialAGraciousLiving
