Sometimes the smallest room in the house can make the biggest impact. Like a great accessory that elevates an ordinary outfit, a powder room can go from mundane to magnificent when styled the right way. Whether you go bold and dramatic or simple and clean, a powder room is the ideal stage to wow your guests as they freshen up.

To make a powder room feel more welcoming, the key, always, is to accessorize. You can fill up your walls with art, your favorite collections, a bold wallpaper, unique lighting, arrange small vignettes on the countertops, have fresh flowers in unique vases, and provide little luxuries like fancy soaps and lotions. A good thing to remember, though, is that a powder room doesn’t need much storage. Hand towels and extra toilet paper can be in plain sight with the help of a pretty towel rod or baskets to store extra toilet paper.

Powder rooms can also be the perfect place to dabble in materials that might normally be out of your budget or just the wrong choice in a room that gets more traffic. However, because you are working with a much smaller space, you can get away using over the top stone or marble, or bright, busy wallpaper. These small spaces can easily be dressed up or down and are perfect for making a huge splash or a more delicate one.

Not wanting to be outshined by the professionals, I called on a few friends who have fabulours powder rooms. I think they all did a great job in not only creating a great and hospitable space, but in using just the right accessories. It just shows that anyone can make something better with the right accessories and a little bit of style.
